The journalist began his career in television at KSNF Channel 16 in Joplin, Missouri. He worked at KSNF for about a year as a maker, task correspondent, and end-of-week wrestler. In 2000, he returned to his home province of Arkansas to work as a general task journalist for CBS partner KTHV in Little Rock. Within a year, he was promoted to the end-of-week anchor.
